Stearn Cottage is a unique country retreat. A detached property on two levels (ground and mezzanine); it sleeps 6-8 people. There is a real sense of history about the cottage, which was extensively renovated to very high standards in 2004 as part of the Stable Courtyard development at Stowlangtoft Hall. From the outside, it is virtually unchanged, with beautiful shuttered doors opening to reveal the dreamy cottage inside.
Open into the living/dining area with its fantastic original brick floor. It’s covered in bright rugs and has a log burner to keep you warm on winter nights. A big dining table here is just right for large get togethers. Two of the three bedrooms lead off the living area — a twin bedroom and a double bedroom with double doors that open onto the patio (and shutters to close at night). The fully-fitted kitchen is complete with washing machine, and a modern bathroom has both shower and bath. Up a steep flight of stairs you’ll find a further twin room on the mezzanine floor. Extra accommodation? One of the sofas converts into an incredibly comfortable double bed. Luxury cotton towels are provided for all guests and for your entertainment there is a Flat-screen Smart TV, WiFi and a Hi-Fi along with a selection of books and games.
The cottage has its own private south-facing patio, perfect for outdoor eating. Why don’t you ask us about a BBQ too? We can leave one out for you. Communal landscaped gardens stretch beyond the patio and are the domain of some friendly pheasants and squirrels.

At Stowlangtoft Estate we appreciate how difficult it can be to take young children on holiday and, therefore, work hard to provide a high quality, safe, peaceful, and child friendly environment for your young ones to enjoy.
A useful range of baby gear can be reserved upon booking; including cots, highchairs, booster seats, stair-gates, changing mats, bouncer chairs, toddler cutlery, crockery, SoS Baby Kits and much more. A selection of children’s books, DVDs, dressing up clothes, a selection of toys and the Cbeebies TV channel are also provided in Amherst House and The Coach House.
Also, a fantastic new play area has now opened, providing opportunities for imaginative and creative play for children aged 3 to 16 years. This play area includes swings, a picnic bench, a slide, a climbing wall, monkey bars and a fireman’s pole, set on safety bark. Please note, children must be supervised at all times.
An on-site restaurant, The Dark Horse, makes your holiday as child friendly as possible. While, if you prefer to stay in, Tesco, Waitrose and Sainsburys will all deliver to your cottage.
Once you have booked your holiday, the agreement between you and J & C Catchpole Holiday Lets is a legal contract. Any cancellations must be made in writing to Cath or Roger Catchpole. If the booking is cancelled within one month of the arrival date, the entire rental fee will be forfeit. For cancellations made prior to one month before the arrival date, but less than two months before your arrival date, your deposit will be retained, but your balance payment will be refunded. For cancellations made more than two months in advance of your arrival, a full refund will be issued.
For these reasons we strongly recommend that you take out cancellation insurance for your holiday.
Stowlangtoft Estate will offer you a credit, or a full refund, if we cannot let you the property you have booked due to local or national government Covid-19 restrictions.
